1. Let them feel in control as much as you can. So, if you’re needing to get out of the door quick, rather than rush your toddler – ask them whether they want their blue or red shoes.  There’ s a real sense of independence that emanates from these little people and a good way to embrace that is to offer choices where possible, and to ask them for their opinions on things. It’s also actually good for brain development to encourage children to make decisions. As a related point, it’s always good to pick your battles!
