Tip 2: Timing is everything
School holidays are notoriously expensive for holidays. Market forces say that you charge more when demand is highest – so we can moan about the travel industry fleecing innocent parents – but it is common sense that they would. So, learn to time holidays from Tuesday to Tuesday or Wednesday to Wednesday – times that are unusual for holidays. It might even pay to take a late evening flight on the night the kids break up – squeezing in just before the price rises. You can also save money by avoiding the summer and aiming for Autumn or Spring breaks.
